I need a girl's name that's adorable and non-normal, like Sugar or Cherry or Kit for a short story. Ideas? A laundry list of names is good. It takes me a while to find names.

Help?

I have a wee dilemma. I need to choose a male Japanese name. (Yes, these are the big questions of my life) I've narrowed it down to Yaru and Yori, for reason of their meaning.

Meaning notwithstanding, what do you guys think. Which sounds better, or less bad, to you?

Thanks!

So I have finally done it. I've written Inception fic. I know, I know... Anywho, I need someone to read it and tell me if it works. Don't worry, I'm not looking for a full beta. You don't even have to run spellcheck. The fic is an AU and just needs to be read-through for believability. So...anybody game? *hopeful-face*

So I'm taking a serious trip out of the country for the first time ever. Needless to say I'm excited and, quite honestly, find it a bit daunting. My most recent trip to B&N for a guidebook didn't help. Omigosh the options! Anyone have a preferred travel-guide thingy? I'm doing the traveling alone, but I will be meeting people. Unfortunately they're going to be there on business, so I don't know how much time they'll have to show me around. I'm thinking fairly little, so I really need the guidebook. Or just plain old guidance. Ideas? Recommendations? Advice?

So I'm organizing my icons (actually, first, I'm back; the story of which is forthcoming), all 700+ of them. At the moment I save icons under the username of their maker. I am now adding the icon's fandom to the beginning of the name.

This , for example, would be saved simply as "tinpra" under my current system. With the new system it'll be "tm-tinpra" or "tinman-tinpra." Here's my problem...what do I do with text-only icons? Do I call them stock.text-ljuser? text-ljuser? fandom.text-ljuser, presuming I can remember what fandom the text came from if any?

Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? You can post that I've gone off my rocker, too ;) I started this project a while ago and I imagine I'll be working on it off and on for ages.

So ye olde evil Trojan that attacked me last night? The scandal is basically handled, but it did a number on my IE and Chrome browsers, and my Semagic LJ interface. So far I've had no luck uninstalling and reinstalling either IE or Chrome. I haven't yet given Semagic a try. Anyone have any advice? I wouldn't really bother, but IE is sometimes the only browser you can use for various online applications, and Chrome can be useful. Okay, so I could live without Chrome, but it's more than miffing to have had it snatched out from under me.

All square now! I had to re-do the connection settings :D

if you somehow come across this "software" on your computer, stop the "scan" it is doing, shut down your computer (even if you have to do it manually) find a new, clean computer and look up directions for cleaning it out. Unless you're techier than I, and some of my flist totally is, don't even fight with it. Find a clean puter, download the suggested software ("cnet antispyware soft" worked for me) to clean flashdrive or blank disk (I used a disk) and follow the wisdom of those wiser than mere geeks.

Originally from [livejournal.com profile] marthawells who got it from Ann Somerville a writer, who posted about the dire circumstances of an artists for the Thundercats and his 5 year old son. To give it to you in brief, he is very ill with cancer, his finances are down to the bone, his wife walked out when he got sick leaving him alone with their son. If you can donate, please do. The info is on Ann Somerville's blog post. If you can't donate, please spread the word. And spread the word if you donate as well!

I dunno how many on the flist are this geeky, but it's worth a shot:

Our foundation is holding an event. We have posted the event on our website. However, you can't see the event using IE (still the most popular web-browser), but you can see it using Firefox. What do we do?! I remember some html, less css, and no java. But I know how to read a tutorial! ;)

Thanks guys!

So we have a bunch of sternos in the office left over from a breakfast. We didn't use them, but we don't have the tops for them either. We stacked them up, protecting 3 of them, but left the last one open b/c we had no choice. It has all but evaporated (3 weeks later!) but we've got 3 whole sternos that are just sitting on my windowsill being a fire hazard! Ideas, guys?

Question

Is it still alliteration when the two words start out w/different letters, but the diff letters have the same sound? For example: is "Sin City" alliteration b/c both words have the soft S sound, or is alliteration really so specific that only a title of "Sin Silly" would work?

And why am I asking you guys, you may wonder? Because I might possibly kill myself actually looking for my old college grammar book. The dust, the piles, the scariness that is my bedroom! Oh, and because you guys like me :D

remember my last post when I asked for help making a sentence work? I got two very good (and surprisingly similar) options for fixing my horrible sentence from [livejournal.com profile] moony_blues and [livejournal.com profile] shaxberd

Below is what I actually ended up with. Thoughts? )

Do these lines make sense (I know it's out of context) :

So when we die—balance has to be reached. We who have no souls, no life in ourselves. Oblivion would be kind, if oblivion were an option.

I want a new layout for my fic-journal. Any ideas for a layout/graphics communities?

Sometime this morning I managed to, quite mysteriously, pull my Achilles tendon and now walking is made of ouch. Any suggestions for fixing, dear flist, or is this one of those things that just has to work itself out? Although, in spite of the rain and the icon-choice, today's been a pretty good day.

Could helpfulness strike twice?

I'm looking for girls' names that start with S. Laundry lists are beloved.

Any words synonymous with winter, wintry things, the cold, etc? I can only think of about 3 words (which I don't want to share lest you get caught in my trap).

I'm looking for a new layout. Something blue and water-y. Ideas/suggestions people?

Can anyone recommend any completed novel-length fics to me? I have a bit of an extended vacation and want some reading material to procrastinate finishing my novel withread during my spare time. ;)

I need 3 boys names, please. I need last more than first, but I'll take both if you've got a complete name floating around
