...but thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lieueitak (which, usually i can spell your name from memory, but every now and then i.e. right now you have way too many I's and E's in your name, woman) and our Lenten NaNo, I am currently working on:

  • the next sequel series to my TDKR/BtVS series
  • that Iron Man fic that I never thought would get past a couple of random scenes emailed to a friend (ha! couple of scenes. ha!)
  • I did an Inception/TDKR/BtVS interlude to the TDKR/BtVS series that apparently broke some brains (sorry!)
  • my previously on-life-support LFN series for FF100
  • my seemingly-on-life-support-but-no-it-really-was-on-my-mind-y'all Tin Man series
  • and started writing that sequel to my Jeb-and-a-little-person-in-the-woods Tin Man story that's been kicking around in my head almost from the beginning. Actually, technically this one's [livejournal.com profile] erinm_4600's fault, so "blame" her ;)

And that's my life in fandom. Vaguely. :D

If you're wondering why I'm not posting this on the fanfic journal, I did a while ago while I was in the thick of things. Honestly not sure why I'm giving an update here, too.

I blame this on [livejournal.com profile] klcthebookworm, although [livejournal.com profile] erinm_4600 deserves some of the blame, too ;)

(Why yes, that is my handwriting, and my wall.)

Funnily enough, I was in the bathtub when the quake struck.

It was a lazy Friday. I had no classes, as it was the end of the year and most of the students were only going to school to attend their clubs. Therefore, I’d spent most of the day doing precisely nothing. I was taking a bath and reading and contemplating a run up to Maiya, the local supermarket.

When the quake hit, I was a little annoyed at first that my lovely bath had been interrupted. And then, as the quake got stronger and kept on going, I got scared. I grew up in Alaska and had just spent two and a half years in Japan; I know earthquakes. This one was different. A little voice at the back of my head started saying, “You need to get out. You need to get out NOW!”

The muse...she has kicked in. [livejournal.com profile] klcthebookworm, you may get a new chapter out of yet!

*hugs!* Thank you for the best review! :D

home but discontent, 11/18/10 after 6pm

I want something so badly
To be lost in the midst of song, perhaps
Transported out of a careworn, tired body
Beyond a mind always going, drunk on info-streams

I want to be lost in a cavern of sound
Here but really gone
An aural wasteland between my ears
Someplace to be lost [to the world]
And to find [myself]

I want to feel
To feel and feel and feel
Joy, ecstatic joy
Triumph
Or furious glee
I want to stomp my head and rock my feet
(I'm not sure I mean it the other way)

But what song could do it for me?
What person or what thing? what drug or what drink? before setting me down gently or abruptly?
Kindly or cruelly throwing me off a cliff?

What I was looking for last night, 11/19/10,6:40pm

When I remember that it's not about me
That it's all about You,
Jesus,
I find the answer to my wanderlust
And that wherever I go--or don't--
I'm satisfied when my soul is kneeling at your feet

and the other two, both short... )

As I was telling the inimitable [livejournal.com profile] jaguarx13, lj is currently try to bribe me into a paid account. I know I'm not the only one, but this is my first time seeing the banner today. It so happens that [livejournal.com profile] jaguarx13 has a paid acct, and reminded me that with paid you get more icons. Which reminded me that, at last count, I have well over 1,000 icons on my hard drive. (To which [livejournal.com profile] jaguarx13 remarked "jinkies" one of my fave exclamations, personally.)

I consider icon collecting akin to miniature collection, especially since there are many that I can't ever imagine using for whatever reason. I think they're pretty, but they don't represent me, so to speak.

In this vein, though, I'm willing to start posting them again if anyone's interested. I usually do 20-40 at a time in deference to those on dial-up (I feel you my slow-connecting sisters and brothers). They had been sorted by maker, but now that I've "organized" them by theme, you'll probably get them that way. Maybe. Any interest? Seriously, though, I'm sure if I think on this long enough I'll post icons just because ;) Of course anyone who explicitely asks not to be re-posted will not be.

anyone else get an invite to join Last Author Standing?

And may I ask who recommended me? I suspect it's an f-lister

It's weird seeing my f'list live on while I'm in internet limbo. Henh.

3 days of writing

The place where I'm not
is right here
where I've always been

You wound me with your forgetfulness
I have to let it go
I may be hurt
but you don't know

No, I'm not really hurt
I just think I am
The wound more familiar
than the scar

Thursday Feels Friday

There's a giddiness filling my soul
A restless wonder
and a dance inside my skin
I want to lift my hands
My hips want to move
I'm holding it all inside
with the constraints of propriety
and looking weird
being childish for no reason
when I seem like a child already

But I could dance!
I could sing!
If I could do cartwheels, I would cartwheel
What magic is this under my skin?
What tamed joy sits on my heart?
Can they see it on my face?
I think I'm holding it in better than I usually do
It's tamer than it usually is
But I think if I let it go
I could spark a fire that would burn

via [livejournal.com profile] krool1280 One-Story.com for the literarily short-story minded ;) particularly those who have recently written their first non-fanfic, all-these-characters-are-belonging-to-meeeeee.

Unrelated, gacked from [livejournal.com profile] erinm_4600 and [livejournal.com profile] moony_blues, and freakishly true:

What type of Fae are you?

So because I was mean to [livejournal.com profile] lieueitak I now have a bug bite on the side of my calf! Mind you, it's well below freezing with the threat of a snowstorm tomorrow. If it weren't too gross to contemplate, I'd say it was a silverfish bite, Katya. Do they bite or are they just disgusting?

Anywho, memes below. If you get tagged...you're it? ;)
