A friend of mine is doing a study abroad program in Nicaragua and has contracted Dengue Fever. Please remember him in your prayers. Randomly enough (or maybe not), Dengue fever was on my mind earlier this week. One of the big pharmaceutical companies apparently does research into it and had an ad regarding it on the radio a while ago. As you can see from the wiki, it's a pretty painful and potentially life-threatening disease. I don't know...I know God is greater than a mere disease. I have an email to his mother saying the very same thing, but the more I think about it the more I'm just...weepy and sad. He's my friend and he's so far from home and I'm worried about him. Please remember him and his family and friends.

You may or may not remember my posting about my pastor's youngest daughter being sick, and asking for prayers on her behalf. She was so weak that doctor's gave her a 5% chance to live. That was back in September.

Now Melissa is off nearly all of her machines and is only on a ventilator which they're trying to wean her off of. She's still in ICU because she's very weak (I can't imagine what it's like being too weak to breathe on your own). The last I'd heard, she'd developed pneumonia in-hospital and they were working on that. That notwithstanding, we are all ecstatic. She was supposed to die. As a matter of fact one of her doctors went away on vacation and was surprised to see Melissa alive when he returned. We're still concerned, and we're still praying, but she's already come so very far. She's already miraculous.

If you were praying for her, please continue to remember her. If this is your first time seeing this, please remember Melissa in your prayers. Thanks!

My pastor's youngest daughter (who's only about a year older than I am) is deathly ill We at first thought that she was suffering from a horrible case of pneumonia and complications thereof, but just learned tonight that she got an infection from being injected with some diet or bodybuilding thing. They're looking for the person who injected her to find out exactly what she was injected with, but she is incredibly weak. She has flatlined during virtually everything the hospital does for her, from changing her lines (IV and such) to trying a procedure. She's too weak for a heart/lung transplant. Our pastor was told that, short of a miracle, she won't leave the hospital.

So on my pastor's behalf and on his daughter's behalf, I'm asking that you guys pray for Melissa. Thanks.
