I have 4 fics for "Inception" -- only one of which has gotten reviews on ff.net. the other three have strong hit numbers, have been favorited...everything but reviews. What does that meeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaan?

How do ya'll feel, fellow fic-writers, when you this happens to you? One the one hand it's frustrating not getting reviews on stories posted to lj since there's little way of knowing who's reading or bookmarking your work. On the other hand, there's the frustration of knowing ppl are reading your work on ff.net and having to wonder why the heck they won't say yea or nay about it!

Argh!

Then again, maybe this doesn't happen to you guys. Meep.

There is something completely depressing about the ff.net story stats page--namely the ability to watch people read your story and either (a) not get past the first chapter and/or (b) read but not think you worthy of a review, even a cheesy one.

...I just realized I originally fell in love with you via fanfic. Every now and then FF.net proves it's worth

So apparently it's been a few days since I've checked one of my email addresses (I have 3 primary and my original hotmail acct that I check periodically) and I have 2 notices from the library that I have books on hold. Two notices and 3 books, and I'm sure that at least one of those books is as big as the tome I am currently reading (The Lies of Locke Lamora if you're curious. Good book. More cussing than I'd like, but what do you expect from a story where the heroes are thieves, con men and gangsters?). I think I've bitten off more than I can chew. Meep!

I should probably go back to posting my readings, but God knows it's been lots of WIPs (:p [livejournal.com profile] erinm_4600) and chain-read fanfic. I'll ponder...

Unrelated: One of my stories has received a spurt of interest on FF.net seemingly overnight. Yay!

Since when had we given up on the Space bar?

This from the description of a Tin Man fic (my newest obsession, such that if I ever get around to listing what I've been reading these last mths, they'll all be Tin Man) on FF.net: "i'm really not good at these summary things.but, obviously,it's slash,WCxG.don't like, dont read.simple as that."

I'm not great at summaries either (I've been told so) but I know enough to use proper capitalization, grammar, and spaces!!!

Actually, fandom is up in arms over FF.net's decision to not only disallow symbols as scene/section markers, but also deleting scene markers already in use. If you have a story currently uploaded to FF.net and you did not use the horizontal line that Word spits out, or the one you can get through FF.net's editing feature, then whatever you did use is gone. No spaces, no asterisk. Gone.

And the announcement that this was happening? New as of today. The same day all the symbols were removed. Email them at support@fanfiction.net and tell them to put the symbols back. There's no reason they couldn't grandfather our section-markers. The only reason I know about this is because of [livejournal.com profile] lieueitak. I shudder to think about what most of my fic looks like. And you people wonder why I left :p

Oy, FF.net.

that i'm contemplating a return to ff.net? *facepalm* it's just that it's so...so ff.net. which is the good and the bad right there. [livejournal.com profile] lieueitak says i should. God knows uploading there would be a sight easier than remaintaining my own website. *sigh* yes. i'm an idiot.
