even though i knew when i wrote it, that it probably wouldn't work. but, still, it's good prose if i do say so myself. which of course means that when i read it again in about three months i'll see it for the utter tripe that it is. lol.
anywho, background info: this is an alt!Kitty posting for the alt!X-Men RPG board, Metamorphosis. other than that...it doesn't make a lick of sense out of context ;)
Kitty wanted a notebook and a pen. She wanted a ticket out of the rabbit hole. She wanted not to be so ruddy impulsive, so turned by a pretty accent and well turned words. She wanted Cloud, the soft stuffed polar bear Diggy had given her for her twenty-first birthday. She wanted to walk out of here, walk out into the sky and see just how far she could get before any of them caught up with her, if ever they did. She wanted her survival instincts to not be so keen, so desperately honed by time and experience. She wanted it to stop telling her to gather, suppress and hold. This was not some dude who might go from moony to jerk-with-fists after a beer. This was a life. And life was a game.
Kitty wanted, for a briefly shining, desperate moment, to be the girl she seemed to be, the girl her family had thought she was. For that burning moment she wanted with all her heart to have been Ann, Child Genius and All Around Nice Kid. She didn't want to know how to get through this. But she wasn't Ann, hadn't probably ever been Ann. And if she could hide what she was from a guy like Kyle, who'd left her black and blue more than once, just so she could make a clean getaway when she was read, then she could do this too.
Life was just a game afterall. Just a game.
Edit Ha! It didn't take a month, just about 18 hours. Oy this is tripe. *sticks out tongue at self*
