via [livejournal.com profile] kseda and [livejournal.com profile] erinm_4600 and probably a host more if I make it down the 30 post f-list.

Anywho: Post a sentence from your works in progress. No context, no nothing, do as many as you like but only post one sentence.

- The last time Wyatt Cain found himself having to carry a small child anywhere, he and Adora had just abandoned their vehicle at the side of the road and were taking to the forest on foot.

- And though they didn’t have the same kind of mass communication then that we do, people and news did travel along trade routes.

- “Pretty please,” she deadpanned, “with freshly killed dead things on top?”

- “Not really. Svarl’k blood never comes out.”

- It was almost certain that most the bodies in the room were vampire.

- His voice was dark and coffee-bitter like that stuff her father had brought back with him from India.

- He wasn’t in the Summer’s residence two minutes before Dawn jumped all over him.

- Technically their “van” was a converted mini-bus, but with over ten people living in it day in and day out, it was more than a little cramped.

- Half moon tonight and they could afford to stay in a double at the Motel 6.

- Glazed-over, sated green eyes greeted her over the eviscerated body of an employee.

- “Holy Mother of God. It’s a picnic site.”

- She returned his easy smile, ignoring that it didn’t seem to reach his eyes, and pointed to the coat tree in the corner as she shucked out of her own wool coat.

- They weren’t quiet enough, however and were reprimanded by the elf on patrol.

- “The future is written in sand, my dear March Warden

- Resisting the urge to drop her head in her hands, she schooled herself in appearing interested while her mind wandered freely for -- she glanced at her watch -- the next half hour or so.

- Not that Isabel seemed to notice.

- By the time he had her dry and wrapped in one of his terry-cloth robe, she was half asleep

- I’d say not to work him too hard for the next few days, Jon and you can baby your boy all you want Martha, but, honestly, this is the fastest recovery from an obvious head concussion that I’ve ever seen.

- I wonder if sometimes he hates Clark too for being unable to see me, and making me unable to see anyone else.

- Because in the world of high school when someone says “fresh eyes” all the sharks hear is “fresh meat.”

- Looking on, it appeared to be an intimate gesture, but he didn’t kiss her, just lightly pressed his lips to her skin.

- She was wearing a cherry-print sundress

- Logan took in the damage with gruff amusement.

from this (http://tvashti.livejournal.com/9552.html#cutid1) unfinished fic. Though I don't think you'll find it as interesting in context as out of.

And in context: The laughter was becoming stronger, and more distinct. Aeryn thought she heard at least three, but the echoes made it hard to determine anything else about them. Suddenly they were in a clearing. John came around her, inspecting the place.

“Holy Mother of God. It’s a picnic site.”

“A what?” Aeryn asked, confused.

John ran a hand through his short hair. “A picnic site. You know, where you go with your family, or some friends and a bring a bunch of food already cooked or to bar-be-que and...” he trailed off at her blank stare. “Okay. Picnics, something else Peacekeepers don’t do. Right.”
