My tooth, she throbs.

So I went in today to have the first part of my veneer done: the taking off of the temporary bond (and probably whatever remained of my original bond); shaping of my natural tooth to the proper, well, shape; the making of many tooth molds; and the placing of a temporary veneer to hide my mini-tooth while the lab makes my real veneer.

My doctor was cute. A cheeseball and taken, but cute. In the course of just telling me about himself (either b/c he likes to hear himself talk or b/c he feels like he needs to justify his youth) he said something to the effect of "So while my friends who went to work straight of college are now struggling w/their careers in this economy, I get to practice my art every day." Mind you, he specializes in things like veneers, caps, crowns, etc....but art? I dunno. Later, the tech was admiring the temp veneer the doc had made, to which my doctor said "You're watching a master at work." I laughed but I don't think either of them noticed.

Anyway, as far as I can tell he did good work. I'm a little worried about this temp veneer being even more delicate than a bond, b/c it's just super-tooth-glued on instead of actually bonded to my tooth. I know I'm usually careful w/my front tooth but after the last bond broke within about 5 mths you can see why I'm a little leary. So 2 weeks of using a fork and knife on everything and avoiding ice cream. He specifically mentioned ice cream (as an example). And I specifically wanted to mention that we'd just bought some and I and seemed to be the only one eating it. Doo do-do....*whistles tunelessly*

So in two weeks I will have a brand new veneer, me and Doctor Cute Cheese will decide if it's the right color for me (you bet your bottom dollar it will be! Unless it's a truly awful color, I do not want to wait another two weeks and have to do this all again), and then I will be the proud, probably sore, owner of a semi-permanent brand new tooth. To the tune of 1500. Le ouch.
