so many of us
surrounded by everyone
all of us talking
and ignoring
and drowning each other out

i was just in the middle of all of you
one hug apiece
and how quickly i'm alone

quarter to midnight
walking to the train station
I've just come from a movie
I paid much too much to see
and now I don't have a dollar
to give a homeless man on the street
something's wrong.
