I am instead asking about digital cameras. What do you folks have and/or recommend. shaxberd has been stridently recommending one camera to me, but I realized that's based on what he's looking for, not me. My only prereq is that it be under 300. Which, okay, honestly would normally be a lot for me, but this is part of what I'm blowing my stimulus money on.

Edit: I take it back...shaxberd's recommendation of the Olympus camera came out of a conversation he and I had about how rough I am on my electronics - on my everything, truth to tell. So the recommend is part me....but I think it's a large part you, too, dìdi

Hubby always has Sony Cybershots and he just gets a new model every couple of years. Guess that's not a huge amount of help but you'll probably want to consider stuff like whether it uses batteries or needs to be charged, which can be a pain when the battery inside stops holding a charge for more than 24 hrs...

Well part of what is tempting me away from shaxberd's Olympus recommendation is that cnet (http://cnet.com) rates the Sony Cybershots so highly. So maybe it's really that I'm torn between the two.

I have a SOny Cybershot, 7.2 megapixels, uses SD produo memory sticks, and was under 200$. It's small enough to fit in your pocket, and takes great pictures. I carried all over London last summer, and it's going with me to Japan as well. I lurves it :-).

Not quite related, but personally I feel like the dollar sign should come after the number amount, since that's the way it's said anyway. Just had to share.
