not as true on LJ (since i've only been using heavily these last few months) but definitely true of messageboards and the internet in general. i've met lots of cool, link-minded people who have truly touched and blessed my life. of course i've also met people who have challenged me and opened my eyes in unexpected, and sometimes unwanted, ways but that's often been good for me too.
