In case you haven't heard about this (although it's all over the news here), here are several articles regarding the disaster. If you would like to help the people Haiti, who haven't seen an earthquake like this in about 200 years, I'm sure the Red Cross will be able to direct you. Some local municipalities are also raising their own relief funds. And if you belong to a charitable organization (I'm part of Children International for example) they are probably doing something as well.

Haiti devastated by massive earthquake

A massive 7.0-magnitude earthquake has struck the Caribbean nation of Haiti.

The extent of the devastation is still unclear but there are fears thousands of people may have died.

Haiti's worst quake in two centuries hit south of the capital Port-au-Prince on Tuesday, wrecking the presidential palace, UN HQ and other buildings.

A "large number" of UN personnel were reported missing by the organisation. Many people have spent the night outside amid fears of more aftershocks.

The Red Cross says up to three million people have been affected. (Read the rest on the BBC News site.)

Haiti's strongest earthquake in more than two centuries rocked the Caribbean nation on Tuesday, causing dozens of buildings to collapse and raising fears that many people have died, officials and witnesses said.

Witnesses reported seeing dead bodies lying on the street and hearing cries for help in the impoverished and crowded capital of Port-au-Prince, located just 10 miles northwest of the earthquake's epicenter, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. (Read the rest at The Wall Street Journal.)

Haiti faces devastation left by massive earthquake

(CNN) -- The powerful earthquake that rocked Haiti "destroyed" much of Port-au-Prince, the country's first lady reported, as the widespread devastation in the country's teeming capital came into full view Wednesday as dawn broke.

"We talked with the first lady of Haiti last night, at least our consulate general in Miami did," Raymond Joseph, Haitian ambassador to the United States told CNN's American Morning, referring to Elisabeth Debrosse Delatour.

"And she said that she was all right and the president was all right, and most government officials were all right because this thing happened after hours, and most of the government buildings that have collapsed, collapsed after the employees were out." (Read the rest at CNN.com)

Wyclef Jean, Fellow Celebs Solicit Support After Earthquake Rocks Haiti Capital (ED: a few donation places are namechecked in this article, fyi)

Another natural disaster has hit way too close to home for Wyclef Jean.

"Haiti today faced a natural disaster of unprecedented proportion, an earthquake unlike anything the country has ever experienced," the Haitian musician said in a statement following today's devastating 7.0 quake in Port-au-Prince, the capital of the Caribbean island nation.

"I cannot stress enough what a human disaster this is, and idle hands will only make this tragedy worse," continued the former Fugee, whose Yelé Haiti Foundation raised relief funds in the wake of Hurricane Gustav and other tropical storms that battered the area in 2008. (Read the rest at E!Online)
