Reading

All my readings lately have been of the ficcish variety so...there. ;) In no particular order:

When the World Ends by lieueitak (although this link will take you to ff.net). This one's a House fic. I know I don't mention and/or rec House fics very often, but I'm only a tangential House fan and haven't watched anything from this season at all. That said, lieueitak is excellent at capturing House's voice and his signature Proud to Be a Prick-ness. I know, I know, you're thinking "How the heck would she know if she doesn't watch House?" Don't believe me. Read the reviews. Anywho, I am happy to rec this one and not just mention it as something I read in passing. Be warned, it has spoilers for "Joy" (as you'll see in the Author's Notes) but if you don't mind mild spoiling it is so completely worth the read. I stayed up late to read this one.

Hero is another ff.net find, by Jedi Keladry. It's a Harry Potter, Snape and Hermione friendshippy fic. I know, I know, it's Snape, but Keledry makes this work. I promise. This was actually my second Jedi Keladry fic.

Hope's Sanctuary was my first Jedi Keladry fic. It's a Star Wars, Obi Wan/Padme Amidala fic. It's a slow build romance, and quite unlike what you'd expect of an Obidala fic. (And as a side note, for a second the auto-fix on my lj editor recognized "Obidala" as a correct word. Hee!) This is more of a "what if" fic, or perhaps an AH, than a true AU. It follows a lot of the SW mythology even while taking some small turns as our characters make different decisions and have to work through them. Even if you're anti-jedi pairings, I think you'll like this. Half the reviews for this one are from people going "I don't usually like Obidala fics, but I like this!" God knows I did (I do like Obidala, for the record. The stranger the combo, the more it fits my bill it seems like). It was enough to send me searching for more of Keladry's fics.

She Was Beautiful to Him is another Jedi Keladry (this time going as Keladry Lupin) fic, and another Snape/Hermion. Like "Hope's Sanctuary" it's a slow romance kind of thing, starting in 4th year or thereabouts to post-war. It goes seriously AU around Half-Blood Prince but it's well worth it. Much of Keladry's S/H fics are archived here (if she has any other SW fics, I don't know where to find them) and the ones I've picked through I've really liked. I'm mentioning this one in particular because 1) I'm too lazy to list everything else and 2) I really liked the way this builds. Keladry has a good handle on who the characters are and is willing to make the reader go through the paces of building up a story.

...for trying to do these off the top of my head. And anyone who knows me even sorta well knows I read voraciously so you should have been suspicious when I only mentioned 4 fics and 2 authors :p Luckily Katya randomly reminded me of fics I've read at work, and also luckily I save reviews that I send when possible.

Anywho, more ficcage (b/c I still haven't picked up any novels to replace the two I decided not to read):

Feel As You Believe by erinm_4600 is one of erin's many unfinished Tin Man fics. It's erin, though, so it's well worth the WIP. There are 3 parts so far and erin's usually really good about crosslinking stuff, so you shouldn't have any problems there. And new OC to fall in love with in part 2 :D

Future Echoes by deird1 is a BtVS fic written for the still_grr. It's a comm I belong to but still haven't written anything for. Sigh. Anywho, it features Buffy and 's appropriately creepy for the season.

Another Tin Man: Ten Things that Never Happened to DG by velara. It's a drabble of DG a la Lost Unfortunately, as far as I know, velara hasn't written the other 9 stories her title promises us. *shakes fist*

And a third Tin Man-er: Daedalus and Icarus by effie214 (whom you may know as Celia Stanton on ff.net) is a pure tear jerker. I was reading something else earlier which made me think of this, though I couldn't remember that it was this specific fic for the life of me. Anywho, it's a strange Azkadellia- and Glitch-centered fic. You'll have to read it to understand why I call it strange

And that is officially all I can get from the top of my head (and my gmail) right now. I'm positive I've read more stuff, and that a number of it has even gone unreviewed *ducks and hides* but I can't get my mind to think of more details right now.
