I give you the Cirque du Soleil post. Um, apparently I had a lot on my mind that night, so bear with me.

----------------

Ever have friends who just call you to vent. I mean, okay, I'm one to talk since I rearely call people anyway, but when I do it's either because I've got some kind of business with them or because I miss them and just want to talk.

That's not what I'm talking about, though.

I'm talking about people who call you and, within a minute of you picking up the phone you're listening to whatever drama they're going through at the moment. JJ is one of those people. I love her and I miss her but I'm not really a phone person, but boy is she. Actually that may not be true... I'm not a phone person, so maybe we're doing a lot of catch-up. Of course I'd rather play catch-up over a meal, but that's just me. None of my other friends seem to feel the same

But to the matter at hand -- CIRQUE!

Cirque was amazing! I went to the movies the day after and that was all I could say for explanation when I was asked about it.

If you've never been to, or heard of, Cirque du Soleil think of your general circus without the animals, except the acrobatics are better, the costumes are more involved, the acts are more complex and the comedy is a touch more sophisticated. Cirque only uses the best of the best for their many shows. Every person is in character all the time whether they're actually on or if they're just helping another act set up.

And the music...the music is transcendant. You'll never think of classical the same, maybemaybe because it isn't quite classical, and maybe because every time you hear it afterward you'll see a contortionist curving his body into an impossible shape while holding up on a narrow pole.

"Alegria" wasn't the most beautiful Cirque show ever. Don't get me wrong, they're all beautiful, but some are more sensual, more fluid, than "Alegria." But I still had an amazing time with my mom. It was very...alive

I hadn't known it when I bought the tickets, but the night we went was their 20th anniversary. Near the very end we were given glow sticks and waved them about the massive darkened tent just as other shows in 4 other cities did the same. It was marvelous. I had bought a mask inspired by the show "Dralion" and with the mask in its blue Cirque bag and the green glow stick shining thorugh, I walked back to my car inspired. Jubilant. It was wonderful.
