Nah, I haven't posted much about it actually. It's going pretty good so far! The writing exercises are helpful, but there's a lot of work so far. Turns out it's an honours seminar workshop type course due to a reorganization of the creative writing program in the English department, so I may go crazy near the end of the term... But it's pretty fun so far. I haven't had to submit anything of mine for workshopping, which is good since I don't have anything at a finished stage to do that with. Need to get my ass to work on that. But since it's anonymous for workshopping, I don't want to submit anything we've been using for writing exercises, the class sees those. We're supposed to be using the writing exercises we learn to help with our main work. For me, that's being tougher. I keep developing the in class stuff instead of the out of class stuff.
It can be hard to focus on anything but your in class stuff. I don't remember writing a lot of stuff-for-me when I had my workshop classes in college.
I'm glad it's going well, though! And I hope that there is a distinct lack of driving-you-craziness further down the road. I am thoroughly happy for you :D
Sadly, even the stuff for workshopping in class is being hard to write. in class exercises come well, but I did manage to get pull for workshopping this week.. and wrote something on the fly. It was odd, I struggled with something the last few weeks, I don't like it at all (but he wants us to keep everything we written/tried to write in a folder), then when I'm late handing in something to workshop, I write a 6 page story in about an hour. I'm not happy with it either, but it's way better than the other crap that I'd rather delete.
I think I've got a full year of going crazy, or atleast until I adjust to the work schedule of the course.
And thank you :) Even when I'm pulling out my hair, I'm still loving the challenge of the class :)
I took off last year to finish my novel but I'm going back this year, so I heartily agree with taking off if you need to. I heartily feel like ppl should try if at all possible, but some times it's not at all possible, y'know.
