lavender scented ammonia
Nov. 22nd, 2008 06:46 pm...still smells like ammonia. At least to my nose. I ended up sweeping and mopping the church sanctuary in prep for our Harvest Celebration outreach service, in which we give out food to folks in the neighborhood--or whomever shows up, is more likely. Unlike our Back to School outreach service (where we give out school supplies), this has never been a very well attended outreach service but with food prices being what they are we are expecting, and are almost afraid of, a record number of people showing up. I answered the door for one person wanting to know if we were giving away the turkeys today (no) and apparently other folks who came to help clean had similar experiences. I'm just praying we don't run out. We've had it happen at Back To School and it's pretty doggone devastating--for us if no one else. Those people who didn't get stuff the year we ran out were very gracious.
Anywho, I've been up since 6 after getting home late and staying up late...to do my hair of all things. Ugh. Had to be done, though, because I won't have a chance tonight for Sunday. 2nd day hair is okay, 1st day hair is best, 3rd day hair is questionable but it would have been 4th day hair if I hadn't stayed up last night to do it so...so. On top of staying up late to do hair, I needed to do my laundry b/c that's been languishing for 3 weeks and it's getting scary at Casa de Tinpra. I couldn't do it last week because of being dog-sick, though that had been the plan before my stomach usurped it. Luckily there's been a serious turn in temperature, which has been the only saving grace to my dwindling wardrobe. But now I am the proud owner of clean clothing. :D
What else...what else...laundry at 6, bank, cleaning the church....oh out tonight for birthday dinner w/friends. I'm even going to wear makeup. And that's life with me.

Date: 2008-11-24 02:53 am (UTC)I don't know how the turkeys faired, but when I went up at the very end to get a bird for someone who had come in late there was a small table-full of chickens left over. I don't know that we'll do this again. We have a very small congregation and this is definitely taxing to our ppl and financial resources. Then again it's the evening after the big event and we're all particularly tired ;) We might feel differently by next year.
