part of the joy of moving out of the projects (other than the stigma of saying you live in the projects) was getting away from the roaches. Now having or not having roaches in your house really has nothing to do w/where you live, but we all know that if you say you've got roaches you're suddenly not as clean as you were five seconds ago. It doesn't matter than roaches can live 2 weeks with their heads cut off, that they can eat virtually anything, or that when anything runs out they'll start to each other... You got roaches, you dirty. Why else would Americans spend literal millions on trying to eradicate the little buggers? Oh yeah, they carry disease. Whatever.

Anywho, moved out the projects and got rid of the roaches. I've had everything from silverfish to beetles so small that I haven't noticed they were in my novel until they moved, but No Cockeroaches. Then they started doing massive construction in my neighborhood. Wait, that actually brought out the mice. Yeah we had mice, but it's gotten worse since the construction. Oh...some of our upstairs neighbors moved. We found out who the gross ones were when they're nasty little roach problem became our nasty little roach problem.

Like yesterday I went into the top drawer of our credenza to get out a CD for listening on the way to church. Shoulda been fun. Except Roach Roy decided to greet me. So I got a bright idea...I was gonna flick Roach Roy (Mom named him. Don't blame me.) out of the drawer and crush him! So I grabbed a tape and I made to flick. And I did.

Excpt I have no idea where Roach Roy went, post-flick. Yeah...right about there I ran down the hall, uber anxious to get to church. Well, uber anxious to get out of the living room and a pissed off Roach Roy. I didn't want to find out the hard way if he could fly...
