here there be craft-geek
Jun. 13th, 2009 08:44 pmI cut string today to make bracelets for the first time since....last summer or so. I have missed this so much. It was my first really crafty thing. I only recently learned how to knit and I don't know how to do very much. But this I can do. And the patterns I know, I know well.
The string's just cut, no pattern even completely thought out in my head, and as always I half-wish I could make a bracelet out of the un-woven string. It blends and flows so nicely. It's almost prettier this way than when it's finally knotted. I'd wear it wrapped around my wrist. Pretty, pretty stuff.
Anywho, I've decided to go thematic. A couple of years ago I made a bracelet/anklet expressly meant to be water-like (and in my flight of fancy I actually named it eau). Since then I've wanted to do more elemental stuff. I've got "earth" and "air/wind" cut now. I'm a little torn on what to do with fire. Oranges and reds I have aplenty, but since I know that blue-fire is hotter, I'm tempted to incorporate that. Except orange fire is more emblematic and the colors are prettier...unless I can figure out how to get the colors of a perfect bunsen burner flame going.
Mm! I love string. I love making bracelets. If I can get back on the ball with doing this, I may offer to make bracelets for others. Times like this I wish I had a camera so I could show ppl.
